SOAPSTONE WORKSHOP
Hosted by Shelia Lewis
Step into the ancient art of soapstone carving! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the basics of working with soapstone—from essential cuts and shaping techniques to proper tool use and finishing.
Soapstone has been carved by cultures around the world for thousands of years, valued for its softness, beauty, and versatility. No previous carving experience is necessary. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have carved your very own soapstone loon; a one-of-a-kind piece made by you!
